Brief Bio
Lionel PAZART, MD, PhD, MPH is founder and co-coordinator of the Center for Clinical Investigation in Technological Innovation (Inserm CIC 1431) of the University Hospital of Besançon, teacher in charge of the clinical research module of the International Master on Biomedical Engineering of the school ISIFC and researcher in the Laboratory of Integrative and Clinical Neuroscience (EA481) at the University of Bourgogne-Franche Comté. In terms of scientific production, he has written more than 150 publications including 63 listed under Medline, more than 160 papers. He holds 16 patents, and has participated in the launch of four health start-up companies.
Robert Picard

Brief Bio
Robert Picard is the Health Advisor at the General Council of Economy, Industry, Energy and Technology (CGEiet), which is chaired by the French Minister of Economy. General Engineer of Mines, graduate of the École polytechnique and Télécom Paris, he is also a Doctor of Management Sciences. Since 2004, he has been leading or participating in high-level missions in the field of technologies and their use in the service of organizations, the economy and society, in the health and self-help sectors.


Patients expectations for care and care delivery are changing and force the industry to change. How to bring value with new ideas? How to lead them to maturity? How to get to the market in a sustainable way with a truly useful product? Innovation by Design refers to needs-driven projects that are created to address a recognised market need or societal problem, to deliver tangible results for citizens. Deciphering real needs by observing existing practices and discussing with end-users (patients, professionals) can contribute to the well design of new medical devices by providing the relevant technical specifications. The conference will take a multi-perspective view about what is needed in order to move technology along to real sustained and widespread use.
